Portable Airship Hanger, Farnborough
ICR provided Littlehampton Welding Ltd. with specialist hot riveting construction techniques and equipment for the restoration of this 1905 airship hanger originally built by Cleveland Bridge Company. It was originally installed at Farnborough Aerodrome.
The restoration of this hanger was an integral part of the ongoing regeneration of the Farnborough site.
ICR was requested to produce an example of each riveted intersection so that it could be submitted for testing and approval by the project engineers and English Heritage |
Each individual replicated section was fabricated utilising the original imperial material and rivet specification |
ICR formed up over 5,000 rivets across four brand new lattice girders and over 100 repaired girders |
