Imperial War Museum - Schwerer Gustav 800mm calibre shell
These shells were used on a Super-Heavy Railway Gun designed by Krupps in 1934 and first produced by the German Army in 1941.
Two guns were manufactured and were named Schwerer Gustav and Dora.
When disassembled the guns were fitted into 60 railway wagons and each gun had an operational crew of 3,870 soldiers and officers.
The full operational weight was 1338 tons each
The shells weighed 4.7 tons with a maximum range of 47,000m
Rate of fire was typically 14 round a day
ICR was commissioned to undertake a full redecoration and application of protective coatings
