St Mary's Church, Pyrton C16th Altar Plaque
The plaque depicting Thomas Symeon (died 1522) is one of three remaining plaques from an original group of five. The two other plaques depict his wife with the other being an inscription. Two vacant stone reliefs were for plaques of their two children.
The plaque was removed off site for bench conservation cleaning and surface protection.
The Altar stone reliefs were hand chased to remove all surviving tar and lead. The relief perimeters were redefined by way of hand chiselling, the bronze was re-seated and the two other plaques were conserved in-situ.
