Commissioned to undertake sensitive on-site conservation cleaning to remove past applications of protective coatings and surface polish residue
Post conservation cleaning the metalwork was protected with micro-crystalline wax
Fireplace Fender
The fender design is influenced by the oeils de boeuf stylising on the house roof as is attributed to the period when the Great hall was reworked by Sir Jeffry Wyatville
A group of 12 18th – Century brass repoussé two light wall sconces. The cartouche back plates are embossed with the Thynne coat of arms below a viscount’s coronet with scrolling branches and drip pans.
An additional strand of the contract was to carry out an in-house training day for the staff where best practice conservation cleaning proceedures and materials were reviewed and assessed.
